Get Involved
As the Foundation continues to grow, we are preparing a new wave of projects designed to strengthen health systems, empower youth, protect cultural heritage and support resilient rural communities across Fiji. Each initiative has been developed in close collaboration with government ministries, provincial offices and community leaders, ensuring that our work directly addresses local priorities and national development goals.
This page provides an overview of the projects currently in our pipeline.
Whether through infrastructure development, youth programmes or cultural initiatives, these upcoming projects present opportunities to contribute to Fiji’s future.
Cyclone Resistant Community Hall
-
Climate Resilience
Project Name: Cyclone-Resistant Community Hall Construction
Project Location: Highlighted Villages Across Lomaiviti
Proposed Project Date: May 2025
Project Description: Construction of Infrastructure (Community Based).
This project delivers the construction of a purpose-built, cyclone-resistant community hall (vale soqo), as part of a training initiative to up-skill youth in extreme weather resistant construction techniques. This community-led approach ensures that the hall is designed, built, and maintained with full ownership by local people, while aligning with Fiji’s National Development Plan (2025–2029) and national building standards.
A cyclone-resilient vale soqo offers dual benefits:
Safety and protection during disaster events.
Daily community utility as a meeting space, training venue and cultural centre.
The delivery of the project offers more:
X5 young people upskilled in cyclone resilient construction
Skills remain in community after the project is finished
Encourages innovation at a community level
Connecting communities with provincial communication lines and a range of NGOs

USP Student Workshop Programme

Youth Empowerment
Project Name: Cakava Vata - Youth Empowerment
Project Location: Highlighted Villages Across Viti Levu
Proposed Project Date: April 2025
Project Description: Discussion Based Youth Work / USP Student Educational Mobility.
The proposed project would take the shape of our flagship one month ‘Youth Empowerment’ project but in condensed form, with ‘2 week’ and a ‘1 week’ programme itinerary options to fit with the semester breaks.
This initiative has been successfully delivered for international students (primarily from UK, USA and Australia), with over 700 joining the project across 2023. Offered to regional students at USP, the emphasis would heavily on an opportunity for community and to add an extra layer of context to their study and their understanding of Fiji. The outcomes from the project would remain the same.
The initiative is made up of two main components; the Morning Workshops and the Culture Course (Daru Vueta Tale Mada). Fundamentally, the project aims to stimulate discussions on important topics at a grassroots level. The discussions themselves are taking place on behalf of our partners who are utilising university students on our projects as a fantastic opportunity for these discussions to take place whilst also using the project itself as an outreach for existing initiatives, tailored to guide rural Fijian youth to reflect on important topics and become leaders within their communities.
Community Health Dispensary Construction
-
Health and Wellness
Project Name: Community Health Dispensary Construction
Project Location: Highlighted Villages Across Group
Proposed Project Date: September 2025
Project Description: Construction of Requested Infrastructure (Community Based)
Think Pacific building projects aim to provide vital infrastructure and development for rural communities in the Fiji islands. These aims are guided under our Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Health and Medical Services in Fiji and the Ministry of iTaukei Affairs.
These projects will provide wooden dispensaries with iron roofing to highlighted rural communities in Fiji, following the successful model of Think Pacific ‘Build Projects.’ The project's objective is to enhance healthcare facilities and accessibility to medical services in remote areas of Fiji, thereby contributing to the overall well-being of the local communities.
The design of the Community Health Dispensary follows the 2019 standard guidelines stipulated by Fiji’s Ministry of Health and Medical Services. These remain unchanged to this day and serve as a quality assurance measure, ensuring the construction is built for purpose and sustainability.
The completed build itself is a product of a youth training initiative at a local level, where x5 young people are highlighted to up-skill in cyclone resistant carpentry a fundamental goal of the project and one which is in addition to the physical impact of the build itself.
